Who We Are
As an ambitious teenager, Jim Thorpe had dreams of starting his own lawn service business. He would spend his weekends and summer vacations maintaining his neighbors' and his relatives' lawns. In 1983 came a turning point: he had enough steady business to create a company and hire five of his classmates as his first employees.
By 1991, Jimmy T's Lawn Service had become The “J” Boys, Inc., with Jim Thorpe as President. Every year since, it has substantially grown. The “J” Boys, Inc., currently services over 600 residential and commercial properties on a regular basis throughout Southern New Jersey and Northern Delaware, offering complete Landscape Maintenance & Construction Services, Turf Management, Hardscaping, Fencing, and Snow & Ice Management Services.
The “J” Boys is one of Southern New Jersey largest landscape contractors, with gross sales reaching over $2 million a year. The ambitious staff consists of 35-40 employees during peak season, some of whom have cared for area properties for a decade and a half.
Even though The “J” Boys, Inc., has grown considerably from its humble beginnings, Jim has never lost sight of the local community that has helped his business flourish. The “J” Boys, Inc., continues to offer support to local children's athletics associations and charity fund-raiser events. We have also been a consistent financial contributor to local not-for-profit organizations, such as The American Red Cross, Salem County Women's Services, Pennsville Education Association, The Penns Grove Exchange Club and several local churches. We also maintain an abandoned cemetery in our region.
The “J” Boys is currently a member of the Salem County Chamber of Commerce, Dun & Bradstreet, Penns Grove Exchange Club, Salem County Historical Society, and Penns Grove Historical Society.
